Crafting is a great way for children to process their emotions by expressing their creativity. It’s also a great way to connect with your children, or the children you care for. But we know that sometimes craft time can sound like “make a gigantic mess time!” without any sort of direction, which can be overwhelming to a caregiver who is already struggling with their mental health. So, we wanted to give you some craft ideas this month with clear directions to help it stay fun!

Step 1: Fold your paper card in half and draw a heart shape in the center of the front (it helps if you have a heart template to trace, such as a heart shaped cookie cutter).
Step 2: Cut the heart out.
Step 3: Cut small 1 inch squares out of the colored cellophane or tissue paper.
Step 4: Fill the Photo Laminating pouch with the colored squares. Once full, seal.
Step 5: Cut the heart out of the Photo Laminating pouch. Make sure to cut the heart out a little bigger than the original cut-out so that it fully covers the hole in the front of the card.
Step 6: Glue or tape the laminated heart from the back of the front of the card so that the suncatcher/laminated heart completely fill in the heart-shaped hole.
Step 7: Let the kids color a picture or write a note on the inside. This will make a wonderful, HEART-felt card to celebrate mom!
