We asked members of the nanny community to weigh in on what it’s really like to be a nanny to the stars and here’s what they said.
“It really is fun. It really is special to be a valued and respected voice to our little people. 29 years of nanny experience and going strong.”

“My experience is that it’s overall much more extreme, on both ends of the spectrum. Pros: some very kind people, beautiful homes/fun cars, other staff to help with things like cleaning, once in a lifetime vacations, huge/nonexistent budget for activities. Cons: expected to be available 24/7, much higher expectations/levels of entitlement, intense rage when made upset.”

“They really do live in a completely different world. They do not see things the way we do, think the way we do or have the same conversations. They are very frugal when it comes to salaries and other costs.”

“It can be really glamorous. I would go on trips, bring the kids to concerts and shows, backstage visits to the parent’s dressing room if they were performing, visit other celebrities’ homes. I loved it when I was in my 20’s but would never do it again.”

“I’ve worked for celebs as a nanny and the families I worked for were probably some of the nicest people I’ve ever met.”

We are so pleased that our celebrity nannies were overall happy with their positions and willing to weigh in for this post!
We know – just like with any job – there are cons too. Just take a look at what Stephanie Keiser wrote about in her book, “Wanted; Toddler’s Personal Assistant,” a book about nannying for the top 1%. Or check out our recent post about the worst parts of being a nanny.
